Stuart Tank Sales was founded in 1958 by Marvin Gramley when he and his partner, Stuart Johnson, split the original business located in Lake Geneva. Stuart Tank came from Mr. Gramley’s partner.

The Elkhorn location was constructed in 1961 with three (3) bays and a small office area located in the corner. Business expanded rapidly and in 1965 Marvin “Budd” Humphrey joined the company as a Sales Representative, selling mostly farm pick-up tanks and sanitary milk transports. With continued growth, the facility underwent expansion in 1975 when Bays 4, 5, and 6 were added along with the addition to the office area.

In Fall, 1975, Mike O’Donell joined Stuart Tank as a Sales Representative selling farm pick-up tanks and sanitary transports along with the addition of petroleum, chemical, and pneumatic trailers.

With the continued growth of Stuart Tank during the late 1970’s, the Sales, Service and Parts Departments all expanded. So much so that in 1981 further construction was done to add Bays 1 thru 3 and a steam bay area.

Growth and expansion continued through the 1980’s and 1990’s with added product lines and an aggressive team to back it up. With continued growth, the Parts Department expanded into a 10,000 sq. ft. addition along with an additional bay for blower and pump mounting, repair, and rebuilding.

In 2000, continued growth and commitment to customers required the opening of our second facility in the Chicagoland area. Located in Markham (a southwestern suburb of Chicago), Stuart Tank’s Chicago office deals with parts and service to the entire metropolitan area.

Continuing to add products and services, we’ve recently added dump trailers and accessories to our inventory and parts catalog.
